Chris Moschovitis
Chief Executive Officer
Christos J.P. Moschovitis was born and raised in Athens, Greece, the son of the prominent European journalist Jason Moschovitis. He moved to the United States in 1979 to study Physics, Computer Science, and Mathematics, receiving his degrees from the State University of New York in 1983. His graduate studies at R.I.T., the University of Rochester, and New York University include advanced courses in technology, management, and education. He was sworn-in as U.S. citizen in 1988 in New York City.
Chris moved to New York City from Rochester in 1985 and was appointed Director of Academic Computing at Pratt Institute where he headed the team that implemented five computer centers, each with a distinct focus — Engineering, CAD/Architecture, Information Processing, Computer Graphics & Electronic Publishing, and Networking & Data Communications.
In 1987 he was recruited by the O’Connor Group for the position of Vice President of Information Technology to establish the company’s hardware, software, and local and wide area network infrastructure. There he headed a team of technologists in creating the necessary infrastructure enabling the company to efficiently manage over four billion dollars in assets nation-wide.
In 1989 Chris started his own company — The Moschovitis Group, Inc. — focused on providing independent technology management expertise and outsourcing services. In 1992, he expanded one of the company’s growing areas of expertise — computer graphics and electronic publishing — into a reference publishing division focused on the creation of reference products for the library and educational markets. Subsequently the company formed two wholly owned subsidiaries: The Technology Management Group, Inc. (TMG), and MTM Publishing, Inc.
In 2004 The Moschovitis Group spun off both MTM Publishing, and TMG as independent companies. MTM Publishing was sold, with Chris retaining copyright interest in works that he was personally involved as the author. TMG went on to further expand its Internet offerings by acquiring e*media, Inc. — a prominent, award winning, and internationally acclaimed interactive agency, whose client roster includes among many others Kellogg, Bayer, and The National Institutes of Health.
The combined entity formed tmg-e*media, inc. with Chris as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. Today, tmg-e*emedia continues to grow as one of the nation's premier independent consulting firms. It has four practice areas, each headed by a partner: Consulting, Managed IT Services, Interactive, and Application Development (www.tmg-emedia.com).
Chris is co-author of the critically acclaimed History of the Internet: 1843 to the Present as well as a contributor to the Encyclopedia of Computers and Computer History and the Encyclopedia of New Media. In addition he frequently delivers lectures and workshops on a variety of topics in the areas of management, strategy, technology, and interactive media.
Chris maintains a CEO-to-CEO blog and can be found on Twitter @tmgemedia and LinkedIn.
